I teach religious studies (mainly Shi'i Islam and spirituality) at BA, Masters and PhD levels. Also literature and history. I have twenty-five years' teaching experience in higher education.

About Rebecca
I am based in London but have travelled to many countries, including in Europe, East Asia, the Middle East and North America.
My academic articles are published in the Journal of Qur'anic Studies, the Oxford Journal of Islamic Studies and the American Journal of Islamic Social Sciences, among others. I have chapters forthcoming for Springer and Brill.
All of my higher education was at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London and I have been teaching for over twenty years at the Islamic College in London.
I love communicating, travelling, discussing, reflecting and writing.

I adapt my classes to the needs of the student, while also guiding them towards high standards of writing and presentation. Generally I teach the Chicago style of formatting.
A lesson can be from twenty-five minutes to two hours. I have twenty-five years of teaching experience from ages six to seventy.
I have a BA in Japanese language and culture; a Masters in Comparative East Asian and African literature and a PhD in esoteric knowledge in Islamic literature of West Africa, in which I critiqued the impact of secularism upon traditional methods of teaching self-knowledge.
I have taught students of many religious and cultural backgrounds, including those with dyslexia. I have also translated (French to English), edited and proofread books and PhDs going to publication about spirituality and ethics.
In addition I have numerous published academic articles and two books, one of which is a collection of short stories.
I am an empathetic teacher, able to adapt to your requirements.
