Every lesson I teach is completely bespoke - tailored precisely to the needs of the individual student.
I have a lot of experience and success in working with individual students to raise their English levels. I am adept at developing students' self- esteem and their ability to overcome barriers to learning. - Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach school English up to GCSE level, enabling students to develop their skills in both English Language and English Literature.
(concealed information) (concealed information) English lessons: Language, Literature, English as a foreign language/ EFL, all ages and levels. (GCSE, A Levels, University Degree, PostGrad, PhD). Also pronunciation / English RP ‘accent’ lessons.
my teaching method is to incorporate fun into learning. and though that may seem like an overused saying, I really try and do it. having gone through the situation of not understanding teachers myself, I know what its like, and know how to overcome it. trust me.
My teaching methodology focusses on sculpting the approach to a student's personal learning style and strengths, and creates pride in personal progress. Lessons are structured around student-led learning and fun, interactive engagement with the topic. Working with students with learning disabilities has taught me to shape a learning environment to suit the particular needs of every single student.
I get to know my students before I begin tutoring them. This way I can effectively work with them. My lesson structures are logical. I also tailor my lessons to support individual students who require extra support or to enable them to be challenged in their learning.
I have achieved outstanding results with my students at A level and GCSE. I have been teaching for fifteen years and am an ex Head of English and Assistant Head Teacher. I teach at a range of state secondary schools, as well as at a top independent school. I tutor one to one and small groups. I also teach online.
* I have 10 years teaching experience * I have students from many universities including Cambridge University, University of Oxford, Russell Group Universities including King’s College London, UCL, LSE, SOAS, and Royal Holloway University. * I am very organised and punctual tutor and work very carefully with the students within time constrains and tight deadlines.
I love being creative, and give learners a type of knowledge that is going to be useful in a real context. Additionally, I love to create a type of lesson that motivates the student to be autonomous and curious to continue working in building up their knowledge.
My teaching method varies in age group, year group, group lesson and individual lesson. I tend to take the first lesson relaxed and get to know my students well and build a fun and useful lesson to provide the best service also give me the chance to evaluate my student- this gives me an insight on how I should approach them and teach.
I am an approachable tutor who will work with the individual needs of each student to ensure they get the best results possible and achieve their goals. I structure every lesson or class to make sure every student is fulfilling their individual potential.
I have the tendency to be quite patient with students, as I believe it is important to ensure that they really understand the content that is being covered. In terms of teaching my approach to GCSE English is based predominantly on practicing useful exam skills, however I also cover the content specified by the exam board with focus on the areas where improvement is needed.
Whether it be English Literature or the sciences, I think the best way to approach learning is through addressing the knowledge in detail and then dedicating a lot of time to practice applying the concepts to potential problems.
I begin tutoring by giving each children an exam paper. This allows me to see the topics children need more help on and the topics they are confident in. I begin every lesson by looking at their homework that I set previously with them. I set tasks based on topics children do not feel confident in and topics that children are underachieving in.
I have a holistic teaching style that places equal emphasis on results and process. I believe that education should be an enjoyable and inspiring experience.
As a SEN specialist, my teaching is based on the child's individual needs. I am a creative at heart and that seeps through all my teaching; providing resources and planning lessons that cater for all learning types.
My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. My philosophy is based on the idea that learning happens in an environment of mutual respect in which the student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves.
I would make the lessons engaging and fun. I am very chatty, friendly, patient and adaptable to the pupil's needs. I would make the lessons challenging, but manageable. A combination of written work and discussion, with feedback would be used.
I tailor my lessons specifically to the texts to be taught and how the student responds to each text. This can mean breaking down the texts into different sized areas of note to make sure that a high level of understanding is achieved. Quality discussion and debating with the student is essential to ascertain a full knowledge of the texts and subject areas.
My approach to literature is both critical and personal, where I seek to cull out of my students firstly the influence of the text on them, and further a theoretical and critical analysis of the text. My classes are quite interactive and I encourage dialogue as opposed to a monological lecture.
In my experience, learning is a highly individual process. The role of a teacher should then be a flexible one, aiming to help each student find the most appropriate and engaging path to their learning goals. Whilst standardised assessments are unavoidable in the UK education system, I make it my duty to guide each student to their own goals.
I expect my students to give me the brief for their assignments and the expectations of the professors at the initial stage. They are lucky if we had the same professors since I know their expectations. Then introduce a brainstorming session where we discuss how we can go about the assignment.
I aim to make each lesson engaging and exciting by providing students with a range of activities. I initially begin with a starter to inspire the student and to encourage their creative thinking in preparation for the lesson ahead. The final five minutes will be spent recapping on the lesson and noting any further concerns to address in the next session.
Experienced Oxford graduate who believes in tutoring with passion, empathy and kindness. I have eight years' full-time experience in the education and tutoring sector. I have tutored over 100 individual students aged 8-22 years old in this country and abroad as well as delivering interactive workshops to 2000 young people across the UK.
My teaching methodology is a combination of the Socratic method (aka stimulation of critical thinking via question & answer form in a dialogue) and open explanation via strategies like memorable analogy (aka explaining a complex historical relationship between countries through the use of high-school social interactions).
Since I specialise in coaching, I’m not only looking to help improve in a specific subject, but I’m also trying to help develop excellent learning and revision habits. This means that my tutoring session will focus on the personal growth of the tutee as well the topic at hand. I will provide a fun working environment, accompanied by a broad set of tips for the upcoming GCSE exams.
I am a qualified EFL teacher with a strong background in literature and linguistics. I am comfortable teaching students of all ages and abilities, but I specialise in creating course content and syllabi for young learners (11-17). My pedagogical approach varies depending on the lesson.
I am a patient and empathetic teacher, a strong linguist and a good communicator. I teach classes that are suited to the student's needs, ranging from exam preparation to communicative learning. In teaching English Literature I focus especially on historical and political contexts. I also enjoy teaching academic writing and helping students with research techniques for essays and dissertations.
In terms of teaching method, I am comfortable either following books and pre-made resources or creating my own. When teaching latin I used a range of interactive resources, like games and creative activities, in order to engage the students. When helping older students I find essay marking/comparison/improvement whilst engaging with marking criteria is constructive.
