About Katie
Katie is in her tenth year of teaching high school social studies, serves as a teacher-advisor for the Women and the American Story Curriculum from the New-York Historical Society, and reviews educational research for the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate, the American Educational Research Association, and the National Council for the Social Studies. She holds an EdD in curriculum and instruction, and she has a research background in educational psychology, abolitionist pedagogy, and gender equity in United States history curricula.

Students practice AP historical thinking and writing skills throughout each lesson and are invited to answer writing prompts outside of class for additional practice and feedback. Coursework is individualized and responsive to each student's strengths, needs, and interests. AP enrichment and preparatory courses are designed for middle and high school students; tutoring in research and writing in the social sciences is available to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students.
