About Georgie

I’m a caring, nurturing and patient tutor who genuinely wants the best for every child I work with. I believe children learn best when they feel safe, valued and understood, so I take the time to get to know each child, what they enjoy, what they find tricky and what makes them light up. Every small step forward is celebrated, because confidence is just as important as progress.

I love teaching, and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child go from “I can’t” to “I did it!” My goal is to help children flourish, not just academically, but as curious, resilient and happy learners. I want to help them see learning as something exciting rather than something to worry about, and to build a love of learning that stays with them long after our sessions end.

I work closely with parents and carers, sharing progress and ideas so that children feel supported both in and out of lessons.

APPROACH TO TUTORING.
I tutor children aged 4-8 (Reception to Year 3) using a warm, patient, child-centred approach. Every child learns differently, so I tailor each session to their pace, interests and confidence level. My aim is not only to improve skills in reading, writing and maths, but to help children enjoy learning and believe in themselves.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY
Multi-sensory learning: I use visual, auditory and hands-on activities (games, manipulatives, songs, storytelling) to help ideas stick.
Small steps and scaffolding: Skills are broken into achievable stages, with support gradually reduced as confidence grows.
Structured, evidence-based methods: Phonics-based reading and spelling, and a concrete-pictorial-abstract approach to maths, in line with the National Curriculum.
Play-based and interest-led: Learning is built around each child’s interests to keep them engaged and motivated.
Positive reinforcement: Regular praise and clear, achievable goals build resilience and self-esteem.
Ongoing assessment: I track progress informally and share feedback with parents, along with ideas for supporting learning at home.

LESSON LENGTHS
Sessions are 45-60 minutes, structured to suit young learners: a short warm-up, focused teaching and practice, a game or practical activity, and a brief review of what we’ve achieved. Movement and short breaks are built in where needed.
