About Tristan
I've been a paid TA for several chemistry classes at Seattle Pacific University: Survey of Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry II, and Survey of Biochemistry. In these classes I assisted students with lab procedures, explained important concepts, and made relevant connections to the lecture portion of the class. In fall quarter I will be a an official lecture TA for Organic Chemistry at SPU.
In addition to my official teaching experience, I also have tutored and assisted my peers across my years as a student without pay, as I've found that this increases my own learning.
I am also academically qualified. I have a 4.0 in the sciences at Seattle Pacific University, having taken Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, General Physics, and General Biology with the accompanying labs. At SPU I won both the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Freshman Chemistry and the Paul Lepse Award for Outstanding Achievement in Organic Chemistry.

When it comes to teaching, I'm very patient and can understand the perspectives of my students. Because I know my subjects well I can explain the answers with whatever media is best for the student, whether they are a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner. Because I have a firm grasp of the information, I can evaluate where the student is lost in the process and make the bridges needed to reach that understanding.
