Here's a rough guideline and what lessons you can expect. No worries, all lessons are tailored to your individual interests and needs :)
Course Length: 10 Chapters.
All lessons end with a practice activity!
Chapter 1: Tools & Materials (1 - 1.5 hours)
- Understanding what you're drawing with before drawing anything.
- Understanding pencils, paper, other tools.
- Grip & posture.
Chapter 2: Pencil & Line Control. (1.5 - 2 hours)
- Building hand confidence before worrying about accuracy.
Chapter 3: Basic Shapes. (2 hours, 2 lessons)
- Learn how complex objects are combinations of simple shapes.
Chapter 4: Perspective & Proportion Basics. (2 hours, 3 - 4 lessons)
- Giving 2D shapes the illusion of 3D space.
Chapter 5: Light and Shadow. (1.5 - 2 hours, 2 - 3 lessons)
- Understanding how light defines form. Learning how to represent that.
Chapter 6: Texture. (2 hours, 1 - 2 lessons)
- Drawing different materials.
Chapter 7: Form and Volume. ( 1 - 2 hours, 2 lessons)
- Making flat drawings look 3D.
Chapter 8: Still Life Drawing. (1 - 2 hours, 1 - 2 lessons)
- Applying everything learnt to real objects instead of simple shapes. Not focused on accuracy, just capturing essence.
Chapter 9: Composition. (1 hour, 1 lesson)
- Combining shape, light, shadow, and texture.
Chapter 10: Final Project. (2+ hours, 2 - 3 lessons)
- Students create a finished pencil drawing using everything learned.
