About Hector
- I've just completed a degree in Theoretical Physics at Edinburgh University. I originally wanted to study history at university, and so have quite an eclectic mix of A levels: A*A*AAA in Physics, Maths, Further Maths, English, History, and Philosophy.

- I think there is often a large amount of shame about not understanding something. Primarily, my approach is to de-stigmatise the act of saying 'I just don't understand.' If a student is able to outline exactly what they have difficulty with -- and do not feel embarrassed that their questions may seem, superficially, quite trivial -- then learning can be both less intimidating, and far more rapid.
- I think it's very important to understand how a student learns. Particularly in Maths, people often go astray by having a set of buried, slightly false assumptions, which lead to them having difficulty at a later date making sense of a topic.
