About Cory
I want to teach because I know what it’s like to sit in a classroom not understand something, not because you can’t get it, but because it’s being explained in a way that doesn’t click for you. That happened to me a lot at school. I’d be stuck on a topic for ages, then someone would explain it slightly differently and it would suddenly make sense.
That’s what I want to give my students: a different angle when the first one didn’t work. Everyone learns differently, and I don’t think struggling with a subject means you’re bad at it, it usually just means you haven’t heard it explained in the right way for you yet.

I’m a second-year Computer Science student at the University of York, tutoring both GCSE and A-Level Computer Science and Maths. I did A-level Maths myself (grade A) and have hands-on experience with programming, algorithms, and problem-solving from my degree, so I can explain concepts the way they actually click for exams, not just textbook theory.
I tailor lessons to how you learn best. If you’re stuck on a specific topic, we go deep on that. If you need general exam technique and past paper practice, we build a plan around that instead. I’m patient, explain things in plain language, and check you’ve actually understood something before moving on.
I can help with homework, coursework, exam prep, or just building confidence in a subject you’re finding hard. Flexible on scheduling, online or in-person in York.
