About Jonathan
Hi, I'm Mr. Requena, a fifth-year English teacher who helps students become stronger readers and more confident writers. I teach grades 9-11 and specialize in STAAR essay writing, TSI prep and literacy. I was ranked the number one English II teacher in Aldine ISD and hold a bachelor's degree in psychology.
I offer support, clear explanations, and lessons tailored to your needs. Whether you're preparing for the STAAR exam or struggling with an essay, we'll work step by step in a supportive environment where questions are always welcome.

I make reading and writing easier by breaking difficult skills into clear, manageable steps. I model examples, guide students through practice, and give specific feedback so they understand how to improve.
A typical lesson starts with a short review and a goal. Then, we practice a skill such as understanding a passage, developing a thesis, or using evidence in an essay. We finish with independent practice and feedback.
As a fifth-year teacher and the former number one English II teacher in Aldine ISD, I bring classroom experience and a strong background in STAAR essay writing and literacy. My bachelor’s degree in psychology helps me understand different learning needs and tailor my lessons.
My lessons are for students in grades 9–11 who need help with English, reading comprehension, essay writing, TSI prep or STAAR preparation.
