About Richard
I’m a passionate chess player who has been playing from a young age, largely self-taught in my early years. Over time, I’ve competed in several tournaments and achieved strong results, which has helped me develop both my skill and understanding of the game.
Chess isn’t just a game to me: it builds focus, patience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure, skills that carry into everyday life.
I provide a supportive and professional learning environment, helping students of all levels improve with confidence and clear guidance.

Chess is great for the brain: studies have shown it can improve cognitive skills, logical thinking, problem-solving, and concentration, especially in children. These benefits can carry over into school and everyday life.
My teaching style is simple and practical. I focus on helping you understand how to think in chess, not just memorise moves. Lessons are clear, relaxed, and adapted to your level so you can improve without feeling overwhelmed.
A typical lesson includes reviewing a game, learning one key concept (like tactics or openings), and then practising it through play. This helps you apply what you learn straight away.
What sets me apart is that I keep things easy to understand and focus on real improvement, step by step, instead of overloading you with theory.
Lessons are for all ages and levels, from complete beginners to more experienced players.
