My teaching methodology is student-centered allowing collaboration in goal setting, lesson topics, and evaluation. I aim to teach for 50 mins with games and interactive activities. I teach ages 10-15 and have had over 20 years of experience teaching literacy. My literacy approach to tutoring focuses on developing students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills to improve their overall literacy. Strategies include reading aloud, guided reading, independent reading, writing workshops, sharing circle and word work, with regular assessment and feedback to adjust instruction. With a flexible and adaptive approach, I can help students improve their literacy skills, increase confidence, achieve better academic performance, and develop critical thinking skills. To implement this approach effectively, I always first aim to establish a positive relationship and build rapport. The initial setting of clear goals allows me to work closely within the zone of proximal development then later provide informative feedback and celebrate progress.
