About Peter
Peter Wikle is a trombonist, tubist, composer, arranger, and educator from Santa Ana, California. Wikle spent 10 years in New York City, studying with several notable musicians such as Dave Taylor, Jim McNeely, Barry Harris, Lee Konitz, Justin DiCioccio, Dave Liebman, and more. Additionally, Wikle has collaborated with a variety of instrumentalists and ensembles of all styles such as the Bobby Sanabria Multiverse Big Band, the Metropolis Ensemble, the Mingus Big Band, Jordan Rudess, the Kyle Athayde Dance Party, and Elijah Shiffer among others. Wikle has performed at numerous venues and festivals around the world including the Monterey Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, the Montreal Jazz Festival, Bimhuis, Celebration of the Other Arts at the Deer Head Inn, and more. In addition, he has recorded at the likes of Capitol Studios, Van Gelder Studios, and Power Station at BerkleeNYC. Along with performing, Wikle is also an avid composer and arranger. He leads a New York City based brass band under the name Rat Trap Pack, which released their first album titled “Aqua Rat” in 2023. He is heavily influenced by a wide variety of musicians including Bach, Stravinsky, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Koji Kondo, and more. Wikle graduated with his Bachelor of Music from Manhattan School of Music in 2018 and his Master of Arts from New York University in 2023. In 2024, he relocated to Santa Ana, California where he currently resides.
