About Ambika
As a dedicated tutor with a rich academic background, I'm committed to guiding you towards success in your STEM journey. My foundation in bioengineering, coupled with minors in chemistry and biology (all completed with honors), provides me with a comprehensive understanding of complex scientific concepts. Three years of medical school further expanded my expertise, particularly in pre-medical subjects.
My transition from aspiring physician to educator was driven by a passion for sharing knowledge and empowering students. I've successfully taught a range of subjects, from fluid dynamics to neurobiology, and prepared students for SAT, ACT, and MCAT exams.
I pride myself on creating a supportive learning environment, adapting my teaching style to suit individual needs, including those with learning disabilities. As a tutor, I employ a dynamic and interactive teaching method, tailoring my approach to each student's unique learning style. My lessons are designed to engage students actively in the learning process, fostering deep understanding rather than mere memorization.
A typical session begins with a review of key concepts, followed by guided problem-solving exercises that challenge students to apply their knowledge. My tutoring services cater to high school students preparing for advanced coursework or college admissions, as well as university students in engineering, pre-med, and science programs. I also work with elementary and middle school students in more basic subjects such as: math, reading, writing, science, and more as I was a Kumon (tutor) for about 2 years teaching students from ages 5-10+. I'm particularly adept at working with students who have learning disabilities, developing customized strategies to overcome challenges and build confidence.
