About Zesi
My name is Ntombizesizwe Sibutha, and I am from a small town in the Eastern Cape named Bizana. I am very passionate about learning, and I intend to share the skills I acquired as a student with others. I matriculated in 2017 with distinctions in Math, Physics, and Life Sciences. These results allowed me to be accepted to study Civil Engineering at my dream university, UCT. In my university career, I worked with TeachOUT, which is a student initiative that focuses on educating students in schools from disadvantaged areas with limited resources. This experience has equipped me with the skills to educate students at different learning levels.

My approach to tutoring involves understanding the student I will be working with and their needs. Before any lessons can begin, I like to have 10-15 minute session with the student to understand what topics they need help with. This helps me plan for the lesson which is divided into 3 parts. First part of the lesson is a pre-test to gauge the level of understanding that the student has. Part 2 is the actual lesson, where I explain concepts, offer easy ways to remember specific theories, methods to solve certain questions/problems, etc. This is the interactive part of the lesson and allows the student to ask questions as the lesson goes on. Part 3 of the lesson is the post-test, to see how much progress the student has made.
I offer lessons in English but can speak isiZulu and isiXhosa. I accommodate learners and students at all learning levels. Students can expect fun and dynamic lessons from me that leave them inspired.

My daughter has greatly improved in her confidence with mathematics and continues to improve and do well in school. Thanks Zesi for your patience and attentiveness in helping her lose the fear of inadequacy and incompetence and and become this bright eyed fearless mathematics warrior that she now is. I highly recommend Zesi as a tutor and as someone your children or yourself will be comfortable working with.
She's not your just tutor – she's a civil engineer who's decided to share her love for math with high school students. What makes Zesi special is how she brings math to life. You know how some people can just explain things in a way that suddenly makes everything click? That's Zesi. She has an incredible ability to take those intensely difficult maths problems and break them down into bite-sized pieces that actually make sense. But it's not just about the maths with Zesi. She's got this warm, encouraging energy that puts you at ease right away. Maths can be pretty intimidating, but not with Zesi. She's patient, always ready to go over things one more time if you need it. There's no such thing as a "stupid question" in her book. She genuinely cares about her students and wants to see them succeed. She can connect math to the real world. Being an engineer, she's used math in ways most of us can't even imagine. She'll throw in cool real-life examples that make you go, "Oh, so that's why we need to learn this!" It's not just numbers on a page anymore – it's about solving real problems. So, if you're looking for an amazing math tutor, book a lesson with Zesi. She's got the knowledge, the teaching skills, and the dedication to help any student not just survive math, but thrive in it.
I studied with Zesi whilst pursuing our engineering degrees at UCT, and she consistently demonstrated hard work, charisma, and a passion for teaching. Her love for the sciences and natural ability to break down complex topics make her an excellent tutor. Zesi's approachable nature and dedication ensure her students feel confident and supported. I highly recommend her as a trustworthy and skilled tutor.
