About Dara
Hello, my name is Dara. I am an undergrad student with 16 years of experience in French. I like to consider myself a lifelong learner. I firmly believe that learning can also happen outside of the classroom. Especially for linguistic studies, experiential learning is crucial to mastering the language and gaining confidence in your skills. When I'm working with a student and I see the spark of their understanding, I know I've done my job.

-When tutoring a student, I believe it's important to gauge their level in the subject they seek help for. It is also necessary to find out the student's learning style and cater my help to that particular style. I emphasize student-led tutoring. (Show me how you want to be taught/tutored). Sometimes the student may find difficulty with the work, simply because the format is not conducive to their learning style.
-A typical lesson plan would include getting to know the student (what they enjoy outside of their studies, their learning style, any potential restrictions they may have, having them explain why they are seeking help, and then having them lead the session by showing me how they need help.) I don't like to give students "busy work". Instead, I prefer that they show me exactly what they need help with. Then, if necessary, I will cater any additional practice exercises to that topic.
-I believe what sets me apart from other tutors is my ability to actively listen and then connect the student's understanding of the difficult concepts to things they resonate with, to enhance their comprehension.
-My lessons are for K-12 and other undergrad students like myself.
