About Tilly
I am a dedicated undergraduate student with a strong academic background in mathematics and a genuine interest in helping students succeed. Having recently completed GCSE and A Level Maths to a high standard, I understand both the content and the pressures students face during exam preparation.
I am reliable, organised and professional in my approach. I prepare carefully for each lesson, tailor sessions to the individual student and communicate clearly with both students and parents where appropriate. My goal is not just to improve grades, but to build lasting confidence and independent problem-solving skills.
As someone who has progressed through the education system recently, I relate well to students and explain concepts in a way that feels approachable and manageable rather than overwhelming. I maintain a calm and supportive learning environment where questions are encouraged and mistakes are treated as part of the learning process.
I take punctuality, preparation and professionalism seriously, ensuring every session is structured, focused and productive.

I offer online GCSE Maths tutoring focused on building confidence, understanding and exam performance. My approach is structured but flexible. I begin by identifying gaps in knowledge through short diagnostic questions, then break topics down into clear, manageable steps. I explain concepts in simple language, using worked examples before guiding students through practice questions themselves.
Lessons are interactive rather than lecture style. Students are encouraged to talk through their thinking so I can identify misconceptions early and correct them straight away. We regularly practise exam style questions from boards such as AQA and Edexcel, focusing on technique, method marks and how to structure answers clearly.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes. This allows time to recap previous material, introduce or revisit a topic, practise questions together and finish with independent questions to consolidate learning. I also provide optional homework where appropriate.
As an undergraduate student with a strong academic background in maths, I understand the GCSE syllabus from both a recent student perspective and a deeper analytical level. I aim to create a calm and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Progress is tracked carefully to ensure steady improvement over time.
My lessons are suitable for students aged 14 to 16 working towards GCSE Maths, whether they are aiming to secure a pass, move from a 4 to a 6, or push towards grades 7 to 9.
