At both A Level and GCSE the examinations test a students' ability to creatively interpret prose, poetry and drama, and I base my classes on teaching a student the best way to approach each kind of text and deliver a response to the question that meets both the marking criteria and shows a deeper level of understanding. While the nature of English Literature means that the marking of exam papers is subjective, my teaching method involves giving students a clear and methodical approach to tackling any seen or unseen text, allowing them to improve the structure, form, analysis and creative interpretation within their answers.
Currently I am reading architecture at the University of Sheffield. At A Level I achieved 3 A*s, one of which in English Literature, and am therefore very familiar and aware of the skills needed for a student to academically succeed at English in school.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND INTERESTS
Through my work experience and degree I have developed advanced IT and computer skills, as well as learning how to work in a team for collaborative projects. The nature of the degree course has also allowed me to become accustomed to interacting with many different members of the public and groups within society, a skill that is transferrable to retail work. I also have a strong interest in art and design, and have pursued this interest through joining the arts society at university. From a young age I have also been involved in sporting activities such as skiing, and tennis, which has given me further experience of working competitively as a team and individual.
