About Thomas
Outside of academia I am a keen reader, chess player, and hiker. I have recently taken up running and love to discover new spots in nature. I spent a year living in the Dolomites, refining my own Italian, which was simply idyllic.
Naturally, as a linguist, I am passionate about many languages and cultures. In addition to Italian, I speak Spanish and French fluently and am currently working on my Latin and German.

Hello! My name is Tom and I recently graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Starred First-Class degree in Modern and Medieval Languages (Italian and Spanish). I am currently a Master's student at the University of Oxford, researching medieval Italian literature. In short, I have been studying Italian for a long time, and you're in good hands!
I am offering tuition in all aspects of Italian language and literature, whether you are a complete beginner wanting to take your first steps in the language, or a more seasoned learner who might like to tackle literary texts.
I am a confident tutor and have four years' experience of providing one-to-one tuition. My methodology is tied to the course you would like to follow. Those seeking language tuition will benefit from support in all four skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. We can follow a comprehensible input approach (also known as the natural method), or I can devise an explicit grammar programme for us to follow.
My lessons are particularly suitable for intermediate/advanced learners who wish to refine their skills, students preparing for GCSE/A Level/University examinations, or those who are curious about Italian in a more theoretical-linguistic way.
