About Hailey
My name is Hailey and I’m eager to pass on my musical knowledge. I have a strong musical background having completed RCM levels 1 through 8 (in piano, vocal, and theory), receiving honors with distinction awards. As a pianist and singer, my interest in music listening is accompanied by a knowledge in theory and song structure and experience with performing original pieces. Having taken lessons in this subject, I also understand how best to impart the fundamental skills and techniques required to play songs by ear, compose, or recognize musical patterns in popular songs. My enthusiasm for these subjects paired with ample teaching experience with children and young adults allows me to explain complex ideas catered to individual learning styles. New material can be intimidating, but I look forward to helping students gain confidence in subjects and hopefully enjoying the process!

As a former gymnastics coach, I believe learning is an interactive process. Demonstrating or explaining a skill step-by-step creates a solid foundation of understanding, but much like a gymnast needs to train, students need the opportunity to practice, make mistakes, and revise their approach. As a tutor, I aim to break down information into familiar and simple terms, provide helpful resources and foster an environment where students are comfortable asking questions at any time. I will also accommodate different learning styles by listening to the students objective and areas of interest before jumping into teaching. This will maximize the both progress and enjoyment!
