About Doug
I hold two Master's degrees: the first is an M.S.C. degree in cultural studies, and the second is an MA TTESOL which enables me to teach English as a Second Language and to train others as ESL teachers. In the past 25 years, I have taught Academic English skills at the university level and have trained ESL teachers all over the world. For the past 16 years I have taught Research Writing for Graduate Students at a major university, plus I have taught courses in Grammar Review and Basic Essay writing. Whether you are a freshman struggling with basic English Grammar, or a Doctoral student writing a thesis, I can help you!

I employ an interactive, student-centered approach to learning. Each lesson provides a time of instruction plus a chance for students to interact with the material and practice their English writing skills. I have taught these subjects at the college and graduate level for over 20 years and the results show that my methods are effective. For students in the early college level, basic grammar and essay writing are just what's needed. For students working on their Master's or Doctoral degree, we review the different kinds of documents they are required to write and how the style and structure of each is different. What sets my courses apart is the opportunity for students to submit their own writing for review and improvement.
