About Saoirse
I've always loved the moment a concept finally clicks for someone — it's what drew me to science in the first place and what kept me coming back to teaching throughout my career, from demonstrating labs at university to mentoring scientists early in their careers. I'm patient, genuinely curious about how people learn differently, and I care as much about building a student's confidence as their grades. Returning to tutoring now after a career break, I'm looking forward to bringing that same energy to helping students feel capable in subjects they might currently find daunting.

My approach is built around making science genuinely make sense, not just memorised for an exam. I break concepts down into clear, manageable steps, use real-world examples to make ideas stick, and adapt each lesson to how the student learns best — whether that's working through past papers, tackling tricky topics from a different angle, or building confidence with the basics first. Lessons typically run for one hour, with flexibility to extend for exam preparation or exam-technique sessions. I bring a strong academic and professional science background — a BSc (Hons) in Forensic Investigation and Analysis, postgraduate research experience in materials science, and several years teaching and demonstrating chemistry, microbiology and general science at university level. I work with GCSE and A-Level students looking to build genuine understanding, not just grades.
