About the lesson

Teaching methodology
1. Diagnostic Concept Mapping: We start each topic by breaking down complex processes—such as biochemical pathways, physiological systems, or algebraic equations—into visual, step-by-step maps. I focus heavily on ensuring the core foundational concept is fully understood before moving on to advanced details.
2. Active Recall & Targeted Prompting: Instead of lecturing passively, I use structured verbal prompts and interactive digital whiteboards to guide students through the material. This technique builds long-term memory retention and ensures students remain fully engaged throughout the hour.
3. Rigorous Exam Blueprinting: We look at real past papers and mark schemes immediately. I teach students how to identify question patterns, unpack hidden command words, and structure high-scoring answers that precisely meet the criteria of exam boards.
Lesson structure & length: Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, which is the ideal timeframe to ensure maximum focus without causing cognitive fatigue. A typical hour is structured into a 5-minute concept review, a 35-minute deep-dive into new material using interactive resources, and a 20-minute targeted exam-practice session. However, lessons can be extended to 90 or 120 minutes during intensive exam periods or for comprehensive IB internal assessment revisions, depending on the student's needs.
