About Kiara
My name is Kiara and throughout my life, I struggled with writing and mathematics. I truly believed that I would not achieve what I had dreamed of; going to university and studying Criminology. But, I achieved it thanks to the support I received from those around me after being diagnosed with Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia.
I experienced prejudice around my intelligence and my abilities to function at school, which only motivated me to prove them wrong and I did. After every assessment, I would get the highest marks and many teachers would comment on the sophistication of my work. This is why I love to work with children, especially those who are struggling, because all they need is some motivating, understanding and love. I truly believe I can offer this.

I am able to offer empathy and patience to a child’s ability to learn. As I am attending a Psychology class, I understand how a child’s brain works and can offer support to those with learning disabilities as I have Dyscalculia and Dysgraphia.
I am comfortable with structuring lessons to be 1 hour or longer with breaks until the child can understand the material. As I would not want to end it on a bad or un motivating note.
My lessons would be particularly helpful to children who are performing at a lower level for their age as I can offer them more support. However, children of any level will be well supported by me.
In terms of experience, I have tutored other students in class and family members, particularly with English.
