About Matthew
I am a sophomore at the University of Iowa currently taking Organic Chemistry I and pursuing a Chemistry-focused academic track. Science has been my favorite subject for as long as I can remember, and I love teaching it just as much as I love learning about it!
Outside of school, I enjoy hanging out with friends, reading, gaming, and getting to know new people. I’m a friendly and easygoing person who values creating a comfortable and welcoming environment where everyone feels safe asking questions and being themselves.
One of my favorite parts about tutoring is getting to share my passion for science with others and helping students turn challenging concepts into something they can understand and feel confident about.

I love using models, analogies, and real-world examples to make science easier to understand and more relatable. At the beginning of each lesson, I’ll ask what you are currently learning and which topics you find the most challenging so we can focus on what will help you most.
Everyone learns differently, so I want to understand how you learn best. I’m happy to adjust my teaching style, pace, and explanations to fit your needs while creating a comfortable and supportive learning environment.
These lessons are designed for students taking high school chemistry or lower-level science courses. I would also be happy to help students with middle school science!
