About Sierra
I’m a Biology tutor with over 4 years of experience and a Master of Research (MRes) in Biology, with a deep focus on neurobiology. I specialise in helping students understand the intricate workings of the brain—from neural networks to synaptic plasticity. My teaching highlights how the brain interprets sensation, perception, and builds the foundation for thought and behaviour. I guide learners through complex cognitive processes and explain how these relate to real-life functions and experiences. Whether it’s understanding memory formation, attention, or the roots of consciousness, I make abstract ideas easier to grasp. I also explore neurological disorders and what they teach us about the brain’s inner workings. My students include psychology majors, aspiring neuroscientists, and anyone curious about the science of the mind. I blend theoretical concepts with practical research methods used in modern neuroscience. Sessions often include discussions on landmark studies and how current research is shaping the field. My teaching approach in Biology is relaxed, clear, and focused on real-world applications. I help students connect classroom concepts with cutting-edge research and future innovations. That’s why I use recent scientific discoveries, case studies, and breakthrough experiments to explain biological principles. Whether we're discussing CRISPR, mRNA vaccines, or antibody therapies, I make sure students understand both the how and the why behind the science. My sessions are especially helpful for students interested in bio-related careers, medicine, or research. As a DIY formulator and a chemistry teacher-in-training, I also bring a cross-disciplinary edge to lessons. I show how biology and chemistry come together in drug development, disease treatment, and molecular design.
