About Solomon
Solomon Cohen received his first piano lesson from his mother, and first violin lesson from his father. Began formal piano lessons with Margaret Höfler at the age of 8. Received his first violin at the age of 12 and received lessons at Hasmonean with Joe Rosen, Hendon (pupil of Sacha Lasserson). After O levels his father brought him to soloist Alfredo Campoli which is when studying violin began in earnest.
Campoli demanded 5-6 hours practice daily and Solomon sat and passed the Cambridge Entrance Exam gaining a place to read mathematics at Trinity College the following year.
After two years of suniversity study Cambridge granted a years' sabbatical spent studying with Campoli before returning to Cambridge for final year at the end of which he graduated and secured a scholarship to study with Professor Yfrah Neaman at Guildhall School of music & Drama, Barbican. Worked really hard in that first year of Professor Neaman 's masterclasses and performance of Brahms A major violin sonata led to granting of discretionary grant for a further year of study at Guildhall.
On completion of studies with Professor Neaman Cohen joined the City firm of James Capel & Co as a specialist salesman covering UK equity derivatives.
Cohen moved to Bermuda then to New York City starting his own hedge fund and investment advisory firm. Success of these businesses allow him to buy Alessandro Gagliano violin from J & Arthur Beare.

I believe firmly that the teaching of violin in this country UK occurs to late in a child's/ teenager's life preventing the gifted ones from realsing their full potential and that teaching is slanted towards amateur playing- " A Tune a Day" for example.
Begninners from age of 5 welcome. I use Alard Ecole du Violin as I was taught.
Begin with holding the violin correctly and bowing to produce a good sound before introducing left hand from simple notes all the way through to oduble stops octaves tenths legato detaché spiccato flying staccato etc.
Children that already play and read music welcome.
I treat evry student as a potential soloist -one learns easily with a good teacher whilst enjoying harmonies and joy of music.
Lesson takes place in your home.
Your son or daughter will have completed their solo virtuoso violin studies by the time they are about to go to Secondary School for GCSEs.
