About Ruby
I am a violin teacher with 8 years of experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Violin Performance. I have taught over 300 students from young beginners to advanced performers. My teaching focuses on bowing technique, vibrato, intonation, phrasing, and developing a genuinely expressive playing style. I prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity examinations with an excellent record of results at all grade levels. I offer orchestral and ensemble preparation for students joining youth orchestras and school string groups. My approach is patient, methodical, and always adapted to each student's individual pace and goals. Let me help you develop a strong expressive violin technique and a lifelong love of this beautiful instrument.

My violin lessons are carefully structured to develop strong healthy technique and genuine musical understanding simultaneously from the very first lesson. Every session starts with a posture and bow hold review followed by a warm-up of scales and bowing exercises to prepare body and mind for productive and focused practice. I place strong emphasis on bow technique from the earliest stages because it most directly impacts tone quality and musical expression at every level. Intonation is developed through systematic scale work, careful listening, and consistent tuning technology use alongside steady teacher guidance. Students working towards ABRSM or Trinity examinations follow the full required syllabus with regular mock assessments and detailed constructive feedback on every component. Advanced students develop shifting, vibrato depth, double stopping, and a personal expressive interpretive voice. Backing tracks develop ensemble awareness and musical sensitivity throughout every lesson. For orchestral students I provide specific sight-reading coaching and ensemble skills development. Clear specific feedback is given after every performance run-through so students always have actionable goals. My goal is for every student to develop a confident technique and an enduring love of violin playing.
