I am a native Mandarin speaker with a Master of Teaching from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor's in Linguistics, I bring both academic rigor and genuine cultural insight to my lessons. I am fully VIT-registered with a language teaching specialization, with 8+ years of experience teaching Chinese as a First and Second Language in Melbourne secondary schools.
I speak Mandarin, Cantonese and Teochew — giving me a broad appreciation of Chinese language and culture that enriches how I teach. I'm passionate about language not just as a skill, but as a window into how people think and connect.
When I'm not teaching, I channel that same creativity into baking — particularly tea-infused desserts like Jasmine green tea chiffon cake and Osmanthus Oolong jelly. It's a small reflection of who I am: someone who loves blending culture, craft and a little bit of joy into everything.

I'm a VIT-registered language teacher with 8+ years of Chinese teaching experience, offering lessons for students aged 10 and above — from complete beginners through to advanced and university level.
Every lesson starts with a clear plan — shared with you upfront so you always know what to expect. A quick warm-up "mood check" lets me fine-tune activities on the spot, ensuring the pace and energy feel right for you that day.
My face-to-face lessons are conversation-driven, with grammar explained clearly in context and reinforced through speaking activities. Written and grammar practice is set as homework, which we review together in the following session. I always plan more activities than needed — so lessons never feel flat.
For beginners, I use immersive techniques: picture cues, hand gestures, and a gradual release approach (I do → We do → You do) so Chinese never feels overwhelming. Role-play, spaced repetition, and HSK vocabulary tasks build confidence and accuracy over time.
Most importantly, lessons are shaped around you — your interests, learning style, and goals. Students consistently say they feel heard, well-challenged, and that grammar finally makes sense.
