About Derek
I am a recent graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Biology. I began teaching chemistry as a first-year student and then quickly became involved in a variety of pedagogical teaching positions. I have a passion for the subjects I teach and plan on continuing educating students at all levels.

After teaching students for over 3.5 years, I have found that informal, yet formal tutoring is the key to a successful session. When the students are relaxed and not stressing about the material, that is when they become successful in academia. I approach each of my sessions by coming up with a plan for what material to cover prior to starting. Then at the end of the session, I give the student any necessary practice material to help solidify the challenging concepts and arithmetic.
