About Ruth
Hi! I’m Ruth, a First Class Psychology and Criminology graduate with a strong research interest in education, mental health and neurodiversity support. I’m currently a Research Assistant based at Swansea University, and I also volunteer with Samaritans, both of which have had a huge impact on my communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
I really value creating a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable saying what they’re thinking, asking questions without fear, and exploring ideas even if they think their questions might sound unusual.
Having studied through the medium of Welsh myself, I remember how challenging it could be to find good-quality study resources online for Welsh-medium students. Because of that, I’m really passionate about being able to offer support in both Welsh and English.
My goal is to make lessons approachable, supportive and, hopefully, genuinely interesting, so that students leave with more than just a grade — ideally with greater confidence and a renewed interest in the subject they’re learning.

I offer structured, exam and coursework focused tutoring tailored to each student’s individual learning style. Sessions can include clear topic explanations, active recall, past-paper questions, essay planning and coursework planning, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, revisit difficult areas and explore areas of particular interest.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although this can be adapted where needed.
I have a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Criminology and achieved A grades in Criminology, Medical Science and Religious Studies at A Level/Level 3. Alongside this, I have around four years of Teaching Assistant experience, as well as experience supporting autistic, ADHD and dyslexic learners, and I am happy to adapt sessions accordingly.
I tutor GCSE, A-Level and Level 3 students, and can also offer university-level support and resources where appropriate. Lessons are available through the medium of Welsh or English. I was educated through the medium of Welsh and achieved GCSE Welsh First Language, so I am confident supporting students studying in Welsh as well as English.
I also have an enhanced DBS for adults and children currently on the update service
