About Jacy
I have been teaching guitar for 12 years and hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Guitar Studies. Alongside teaching, I regularly perform and compose music, which keeps my skills fresh and inspires my students. I believe music is a creative and lifelong skill that anyone can develop. I work with beginners and advanced players alike, tailoring lessons to each person’s goals and pace. For me, teaching is about more than just notes and chords—it’s about helping students find their own voice through the guitar. I focus on building strong technique, musical understanding, and confidence. My lessons encourage self-expression and a deep love of learning. Whether you want to play for fun, perform on stage, or compose your own songs, I am here to support you. I aim to create a positive, motivating environment where students feel inspired to grow. My teaching focuses on building strong fundamentals while keeping lessons fun and practical. I emphasize proper ergonomic technique to ensure comfortable, injury-free playing from the start. We work on mastering open chords and power chords, which form the foundation of many songs. Finger dexterity exercises are a key part of my lessons to improve speed and accuracy.
I also include ear training to help students recognize melodies and chords by listening. Music theory is an important part of my teaching, especially Roman Numeral Chord Nomenclature, so students understand how chords relate and progress. This knowledge helps in improvisation and songwriting.
For those interested in fingerstyle playing, I provide step-by-step guidance to develop this skill with confidence. I support students who want to lead worship or perform, helping them excel in rhythm, expression, and stage presence. Every lesson is personalized to match your goals and pace.
