About Sona
I am a piano tutor with over 9 years of experience, passionate about helping students develop both their technical skills and creative expression. I hold a Licentiate of Music in Piano (LMusA or equivalent), which has given me a strong foundation in performance and pedagogy. I enjoy guiding students through ABRSM, Rockschool, and university-level piano, tailoring lessons to their individual goals and learning styles. Each student is unique, and I focus on unlocking their potential while keeping lessons engaging and rewarding. My teaching combines structured technique, sight-reading, ear training, and musical interpretation. I also emphasize creativity, encouraging students to explore improvisation, composition, and expressive performance. I aim to make learning piano enjoyable and inspiring, helping students gain confidence and a deeper appreciation of music. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced pianist, I am committed to supporting your growth every step of the way. My piano teaching approach focuses on building strong technical skills while nurturing creativity and a love for music. I work with students of all levels, from beginners to advanced performers, tailoring lessons to their goals. Lessons include piano technique, sight-reading, ear training, and rhythm exercises to develop confidence and fluency at the keyboard.
I also integrate music theory, helping students understand scales, chords, harmony, and musical structure. For those preparing for exams like ABRSM, Rockschool, or A-Level Music, I provide structured guidance, practice strategies, and performance tips. History of music and different musical styles are part of the learning process, giving students a broader understanding of context and expression.
Creative skills like composition and improvisation are encouraged in every lesson. I focus on modern piano styles, including jazz and pop, helping students perform and express themselves with authenticity. Lessons are interactive, with a mix of exercises, repertoire, and fun challenges.
