About Valerie
With over 5 years of teaching experience and a BSc in Music Technology, I specialise in piano and cinematic composition. I am passionate about film, television, and video game music. Lessons are personalised, fun, and suitable for learners of all ages and levels. I teach melodic writing, orchestration, synthesiser sound design, and DAW workflow. Students learn to combine technical skill with creative expression. I have helped students from Intermediate to Advanced and Professional/Expert levels. Each lesson emphasises storytelling, composition, and performance skills. I encourage experimentation, helping students develop their unique musical voice. Lessons cover arrangement, orchestration, and sound design techniques. Students gain confidence and practical experience in composition and piano performance. My teaching balances theory, technical mastery, and creative exploration. I aim to inspire students to compose emotionally compelling music. My piano teaching emphasises ear training and developing strong auditory skills. Students learn to recognise chords, melodies, and rhythms by ear. I also focus on developing perfect pitch and musical intuition. Lessons are suitable for all levels and tailored to individual goals. Exercises strengthen listening, pattern recognition, and improvisation skills. The Composer and The Digital Producer benefit from personalised exercises to recognise music without sheet music. Lessons connect hearing with playing, composing, and performance. Students gain confidence in interpreting music independently. I provide interactive, engaging, and structured sessions for steady progress. Ear training is approached creatively, making learning enjoyable and effective. Students improve both technical and auditory skills. Each lesson builds musical understanding, intuition, and expressive ability.
