About Oliver
I am a lover of humanity and culture. I have deep respect for using music as a tool that enhances a human being's life personally and socially. I teach with this focus in mind allowing the student to explore the instrument from a personal level and from a cultural level. It is important that students feel trusting in learning from me. I am a professional touring artist. I have performed flamenco, Indian and Middle Eastern Music with professionals. I have lived in India, Middle East and tour in Spain often. I have worked with Ustad Aashish Khan (Sarod legend of India), I have worked with Ustad Shujaat Khan (Sitar master of India), my last tabla guru was Aloke Dutta of the Lucknow gharana. I studied dumbek living in the Middle East with the Bedouins, I have performed with top artists from Turkey, Iran, Egypt including accompaniment for Middle Eastern dancers. I have also performed flamenco with top artists of Spain such as Jeronimo Maya plus having had the honor to perform for Paco De Lucia.

My lessons are catered to the student and their goals.
A plus factor is that i play melodic instruments from these cultures so students also get experience in how to accompany melodic instruments of these cultures.

- drumming for relaxation, meditation and understanding the Indian spiritual approach to music and rhythm (NadaYoga)

Oliver is a wonderful friend and mentor to his students. He taught our son tabla when he was in middle and high school. He helped him learn to use drumming as a way to calm his mind. He also helped him perform at many venues including downtown Austin, our church, and parties. Music wasn’t my son’s top priority. He was very into sports. But Oliver didn’t judge him for that. He brought the joy, beauty, and discipline of Indian Classical music to our son and we are so grateful!
