About Alena
I've always been teaching piano to friends and family as soon as I got a hold of it at 5 years old, and then further went on to volunteer and teach at my local retirement homes and shelters. I've also done a handful of private lesson, though because I'm only 19, its been difficult for me to find a music program to work at due to my lack of a music degree. And, I still feel very ready and confident to take my teaching to a professional level, and bring a new type of technique and approach to lessons.

I am a young pianist, therefore I like to challenge older music teaching techniques and I'm very passionate about the importance of knowing how to improvise on instruments and play by ear, I believe by doing this it helps further your knowledge, confidence and overall appreciation for music/piano. I definitely still hold important to being able to read music, and I think there is value to that. Though once confident with reading music and navigating the piano, I think there's so much to explore and challenge yourself with other than reading music.
