I specialize in structured reading instruction for elementary students who are struggling with decoding, fluency, or comprehension—especially those with dyslexia or learning differences. With over 20 years of teaching experience and training in the Orton-Gillingham approach, I provide engaging, personalized lessons that build confidence and skill.
My teaching method is rooted in a structured, multisensory approach. I combine phonics, movement, visuals, and auditory cues to activate multiple areas of the brain. This makes reading “click” for students who may have found traditional methods frustrating. I also focus on building vocabulary and comprehension through interactive stories and high-interest materials.
A typical lesson includes:
A warm-up with review games or word-building
Explicit phonics instruction tailored to the student’s current level
Fluency practice using controlled texts
Comprehension work with guided discussion or written response
A short, encouraging wrap-up with strategies to try at home
What sets me apart is my ability to create a safe and positive learning environment where students feel seen, supported, and successful. I build strong relationships and adjust my approach as students grow, helping them not only improve their reading—but believe in themselves as readers.
