About Emily
Starting with an assessment of your current playing, we look at where your gaps are hiding. I prefer to jump straight into the practical mechanics of the instrument during our first hour.
With 365 students mentored so far, I have developed a clear path for those needing structure in their study. We will navigate barre chords, soloing techniques, and reading tabs while ensuring your hand position remains safe.
Because I am a working choir director, I bring a strong sense of musicality to every guitar session. To keep you on track, I provide a monthly recorded review of progress that documents exactly what we covered. This allows you to revisit our discussions whenever you feel stuck. My goal is to keep our time together relaxed and focused.

Have you wondered how to organise your practice time to see real progress? After 5 years of teaching, I have worked with 365 students ranging from self-taught players to advanced learners. My technical background allows me to break down complex skills like scales and modes or lead guitar improvisation.
I find that most people want to move beyond just reading tabs and actually understand the fretboard. We will look at power chords and barre chords to expand your chord vocabulary.
Ear training remains a fundamental pillar in my personal teaching philosophy. My background as a musician gives me a unique perspective on how to structure lessons for those returning to the instrument. I enjoy simplifying difficult concepts into manageable steps. Practice is just part of the process.
