About Sophia
"Struggling to play a song exactly like the original recording is a common frustration for self-taught players. Usually the version you hear is technically impossible for a beginner to replicate. My lessons utilise my MMus background to adapt complex arrangements into manageable versions. I turn your song requests into simplified arrangements that still sound like the original.
Performance focused students and returning learners benefit from this structure. If you want to work on songwriting or general maintenance, we can add that to our time. Perhaps we can start by looking at your favourite track next week."

"Sometimes I find that playing the guitar is more about unlearning tension than adding new information. These 13 years of teaching have taught me that simplicity is often the fastest route to proficiency. I have worked with 214 students who needed a clear path forward. My sessions emphasise ear training, fingerpicking, and lead guitar mechanics.
It is satisfying to see a player finally find their rhythm. Music theory becomes clear when you stop treating it like a chore."
