About Scott
I am a former national-level competitive swimmer from New Zealand, now based in North London, with over 10 years of swimming teaching experience. I hold an STA Level 2 qualification in baby and toddler aquatics and a Level 3 Personal Training qualification. I am passionate about building confidence in the water, whether for a nervous adult or a baby having their first splash.

My approach is relationship-first and evidence-based. Before I focus on technique, I focus on building trust and confidence in the water, since people learn far quicker once they feel safe rather than anxious. From there, I build skills step by step with clear, positive instruction, adjusting the pace to suit each person rather than following a rigid one-size-fits-all programme.
I teach babies and toddlers through to adults, including complete beginners and nervous swimmers. For babies and toddlers, I am STA Level 2 qualified in aquatics and focus on water familiarisation, breath control and the foundations of independent movement, always working closely with parents who are in the water too. For adults, lessons range from teaching someone to swim for the first time through to refining stroke technique for fitness or confidence in open water.
Lessons typically run 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the age and goals of the swimmer, and I teach privately or in small groups at pools across North London, including Golders Green and the surrounding area.
I have over 10 years of teaching experience and a background as a national-level competitive swimmer in New Zealand, which gives me a strong technical understanding of stroke mechanics as well as the patience needed to teach from the very first lesson.
