About Jay
I am a student who just finished their A-Levels, and have studied the 4 subjects; Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Computer Science where I have been predicted 4 A*, furthermore I completed the entire Further Maths course in 1 year as opposed to 2. In the relevant subjects in GCSE Maths and Chemistry I attained A*, and in Computer Science I achieved a B. I hope to enrol at Warwick University next year where I will study Pure Mathematics. As is probably evident, I have a strong passion for Mathematics and enjoy tackling difficult problems, whilst also helping my younger sister with her homework. I have a strong belief that absolutely everyone has the ability to attain top grades, after all if others can do it what is stopping you. I believe the key to achieving top grades is a strong understanding of the material, and realisation of how everything links together. From then on it is a case of enforcing these newly developed techniques, and there is only really one way of approaching that; practice. However sometimes a rock solid understanding of the content isn't enough to persevere, and may only leave you scraping past the top marks. From my experience, it is always extremely useful to question the knowledge being taught to you, because then you start to develop an idea of where the theory originated, and all of a sudden the content that was originally floating around in your head as broken pieces starts to come together, and starts to form a nice image of why things are the way they are. Jay has a strong drive and determination for maths and would be an excellent tutor. In summer 2017, Jay decided to teach himself AS Further Maths, this allowed him to enrol on the full A-Level Further Maths course at college. Also around college I was able to witness first hand Jay helping other students with academic issues.
I have gotten to know Jay the last 2 years and I can honestly say he has a real passion for mathematics. Not only does he enjoy learning about the subject himself but he also takes great pride in helping others within the subject area too. Jay is a true optimist and it is this positive attitude that helps him achieve and progress; always giving his all and always working his hardest.
