As I am a Zoology Undergraduate, I would be comfortable tutoring biology and psychology at A Level and chemistry, biology and psychology at GCSE. For KS3 students, I would be comfortable tutoring a wider range of subjects such as math, science and English-based subjects too. My teaching methodology would be to help consolidate what they're learning at school and then quiz them on it the next session if that helps them. For this, I could use websites such as "Kahoot" to engage them further. I would love to help improve they're understanding of such topics in ways that works best for them. For example, illustrating certain systems and cycles, or demonstrating concepts to help them learn from different perspectives, asking and answering questions along the way.
I volunteered during my own A levels, tutoring other students A Level Biology including exam help and improving their overall understanding of biological topics. I witnessed their grades and knowledge recall improve greatly. I myself have A levels in various sciences including Chemistry, Biology and Psychology. Now studying Zoology at Leeds University, my Biology knowledge continues to expand.
Passionate worker and student in full time education studying Zoology at the University of Leeds. 5-year background of caring, monitoring and supporting life at Tropical Birdland. Confident at giving interactive and informative talks to groups of 15+. I am experienced in conservation and community work. I volunteered in Borneo and Ecuador during my gap year in 2019-2020. I perform tasks to a high standard independently and also provide professional energy when working as a team.
07/2017. ZOO KEEPER AND WAITRESS, TROPICAL BIRDLAND (LEICESTER, LEICESTERSHIRE)
Since I was 16, I have worked here over summer. I feed the birds and clean out their enclosures. I have learnt how to handle birds correctly and work in the egg incubation room. I sometimes demonstrate to the public how to hold and feed the birds whilst talking about the different species. The zoo also has a restaurant where I’ve worked as a waitress.
11/2017 – 12/2018. WAITRESS, BROOKSIDE GARDEN CENTRE (POYNTON, GREATER MANCHESTER)
As a waitress at the restaurant, I served food and drinks after welcoming and seating customers. I would ensure to greet every guest politely and make them feel welcome. I dealt with any enquiries, complaints or complements customers had, providing my assistance where necessary. Other responsibilities included clearing away and cleaning, restocking shelves and attending to new customers.
07/2019 – 08/2019. INDEPENDENT VOLUNTEER, CAMPS INTERNATIONAL (BORNEO)
Volunteer work helping communities expand by providing them with resources such as building schools, shelters and houses. I also carried out conservation work within the jungle, planting trees and searching for wildlife. During my time, I earned my PADI scuba diving qualification and with this I helped clear plastic from the ocean. I also taught kids aged 4-8 English language and the rules of certain games.
09/2019 – 03/2020. SHOP ASSISTANT, SAINSBURYS (STOCKPORT, CHESHIRE)
I was employed by my local Sainsburys. Here I dealt with stock rotation, packing shelves, sales at the till and cleaning. I ensured to help every customer with their queries and guide them to where and what they require. I made efforts to work at an efficient pace at all times to allow the busy days to flow smoothly.
02/2020 – 02/2020. INDEPENDENT VOLUNTEER, CAMPS INTERNATIONAL (ECUADOR)
Similar to Borneo, I went on this expedition to complete conservation and community work. Living in the Amazon, I helped plant trees and other crops in order to increase biodiversity within the rainforest. Community work involved helping local families to have working facilities such as toilets and water. To do this we helped replenish old facilities or provided them with new buildings altogether.
