About Elena
I am a 5th year medical student at the University of Oxford, having obtained a 1st class degree in Medical Sciences from the University of Oxford in 2018. I came to Oxford from the Midlands, where I had achieved both the best GCSE and A level results from my school - both straight A*s. I am an experienced tutor and, with my course currently suspended due to the Covid-19 situation, have an abundance of time to offer more tuition. I am here to help you use this break in formal schooling productively and stay on track or get ahead.
I began tutoring GCSE-level sciences and maths during my time in the 6th form as a volunteer mentor to a GCSE student. Since then, I have provided 1:1 tutoring in English as a Foreign Language in a volunteer capacity, and in GCSE sciences and maths in a paid capacity, both in person and online. I have also run a course of formal medicine teaching sessions for younger years at Oxford. I am also capable of teaching A-level biology, and tutoring for the UKCAT and BMAT medical admissions exams, as well as medical personal statement or interview preparation.

I teach GCSE physics, maths, biology and chemistry, and A-level biology. I also provide tuition for the UKCAT and BMAT medical school admissions tests, and for medical school interviews and personal statements. I am flexible when it comes to lesson structure and can employ a variety of strategies depending on your needs. This may mean covering new topics in lessons I plan and create myself incorporating exam-style-questions, or basing the structure of my teaching around exam-style-questions to focus on exam technique and providing extra content and depth where weaknesses are identified. I am committed to making lessons engaging and fun, as well as meticulously tailored to an individual student's needs, as my background in clinical medicine has provided me with an excellent basis for understanding the mental processing of a student and helping them work towards an explanation they will understand.
