Methodology

Duration : 1 hour - Price : £20.00 - Place : ExeterI am the current Artistic Director of Exeter University Theatre Company, and currently study drama at the University also. This background means I am in the perfect position to teach you the key acting skills and techniques to help better any performance you give. I am especially knowledgeable in script work and movement work. I have directed pieces of new writing in the past as well as Annie Bakers 'The Flick', and classics like 'Therese Raquin'. I also have a performance background which I believe helps me in understanding how to best help actors - for example, I have played Hermione in 'A Winters Tale', and Clarisse in 'Fahrenheit 51'.

Firstly I would ask the pupil what they wished to gain from the session and plan the lesson from there. For example, if there was a specific piece they wanted to develop we would work on that, moving from a close examination of the script, to characterisation and performance. If the pupil wanted to generally develop their acting skills I would bring a variety of extracts to work on with them. As a tutor I like to lead from a place of empathy and creativity, working my lesson plan around how the pupil best learns.
