Hi, my name is Dan and I've worked as a professional actor for close to a decade. I've had extensive experience in Film, T.V. and theatre. I also teach regularly as an acting tutor at City Academy, and run acting workshops in London. Whatever the challenges you're facing or the role you're preparing for I can help you to improve and excel.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
General acting technique.
Acting for Screen.
Coaching for drama school entry auditions.
Coaching for professional auditions.
Can assist coaching and recording Self-Tape auditions.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I got my 2:1 Honours in English at Leeds University, going on to get my Masters degree in Acting at Arts Ed.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £40 per session.
I can travel most places in London, get in touch with where you are and we can discuss if there are any additional travel costs.
If you wish to train with a friend then get in touch to discuss and I can offer a discounted rate for a shared hour.
I need 24 hour advance notice for cancellation as I need time to be able to fill the slot. Anything less than that will unfortunately mean I will still have to charge for the session.
- Where do you teach?
I teach in Central and North London - Highgate, Highbury and Islington, Angel, Camden, Crouch End, Muswell Hill, East Finchley, Finchley, Hendon.
- When are you available?
I am available Monday to Friday 8am – 6pm. I am occasionally available evenings and weekends so get in contact if that is the only time you're able to meet.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach any levels of experience, from age 16 and above.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am happy to teach via Skype or Facetime. Students have found this a convenient and comfortable alternative to meeting in person, and can be just as effective.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
As an actor you never stop learning, and there is no better way of improving that one-on-one tuition. I am passionate about helping students to achieve the very best they are capable of, working closely to build on their skills and improve their confidence. I'm passionate about passing on all that I have learnt in my many years of experience, both acting and teaching. I love focusing on each student's individual progress and nothing makes me happier than watching a student's work improving.
I have worked in west end theatre, regional theatre, appeared for 3 years as one of the main cast in an international TV series (My Mad Fat Diary - E4), and appeared in a number of films that received cinematic release. I have also appeared in commercials, so I really have had the full range of industry experience, with everything from independent short films to hollywood blockbusters.
I am currently represented by Independent Talent Group, and managed by Untitled Entertainment in the USA.
As a tutor I have coached a number of actors in preparation for professional work, and run workshops and coached for drama school.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I trained at Arts Ed, and after this went on to train in Meisner technique for a number of years under Scott Williams (himself a pupil of Sanford Meisner), and Kate Maravan.
I am currently an acting tutor at City Academy with a focus on Meisner Technique, and have had a number of years experience coaching actors for audition and performance.
I teach acting. I have a strong background in Stanislavsky based approaches such as Uta Hagen and Meisner Technique, and bring everything I have learnt in my training and career to my work with students.
As a teacher I have had extensive experience working closely with students on addressing their technique, and helping them deepen and improve, whether thats in a one-off audition preparation, or longer term coaching classes. The more sessions we have the more work we can do on improving your abilities and helping you to be the best actor you can be.
