About Nathaniel
As a current Graduate Assistant and Writing Tutor at California State University, San Bernardino, I have direct experience helping college and dual-enrolled high school students improve their writing with greater clarity, organization, and confidence. I have supported students with everything from sourcing, formatting, and structure to revision and academic precision, and I have also designed workshops on MLA 9, APA 7, and essay outlining. Backed by a 4.0 GPA in both my completed bachelor’s degree and my current master’s program, I strive to provide professional, thoughtful, and reliable support while fostering a respectful, inclusive, engaging, and encouraging environment for learning.

I use a flexible, student-centered approach that begins with familiarizing myself with how each student learns best. I adapt my teaching style to the individual, whether that means step-by-step explanation, guided revision, outlining support, mnemonic devices, visual associations, or identifying helpful online resources.
A typical lesson begins by identifying the student’s goals, reviewing the assignment, and determining where they are in the writing process. From there, we work together on brainstorming, structure and organization, clarity, grammar, proofreading, or formatting, depending on the need. I also explain the “why” behind my recommendations so students can better understand the writing process and apply those skills independently in future assignments.
What sets me apart is my patience, flexibility, compassion, and commitment to fostering a supportive environment where students feel respected, encouraged, and empowered. My strongest experience is with college-level students, but I am open to working with a wider range of learners in areas including essays, research papers, theses, IRB proposals, expository writing, poetry, prose, proofreading, grammar, and APA/MLA citation and formatting.
