I have privately tutored a number of colleagues and helped them to develop their skillsets in the workplace, the idea of tutoring privately and helping individuals to reach their full potential achieve their own endeavours will be incredibly rewarding to me.
I work locally as a filmmaker in Norwich and Norfolk; I have been freelancing since the age of 18 when my hobby and passion turned into a reality as I picked up work shooting for Virgin Money across the country. This swiftly turned into organising and producing shoots for local clients developing into my current work, which is editing on large commercials for local award winning production companies and producing content for local YouTubers. The two main production companies I have work consistently with are SPINDLE Productions and Submotion Productions in which I have worked on projects for Philips, The Royal Navy, The New York Times and Barclays. The sheer scale and workflow of these projects means that I have to be organised, have great attention to detail and communicate clearly with those involved.
On the flip side, through YouTube I work with the talent represented by GLEAM, the two main channels I work for consistently are Pixiwoo and Haste’s Kitchen, with large followings I am responsible for the planning, shooting, cutting and delivery of these films. With these projects the quick turnaround, fast paced work environment and the intuition required make for a very specific type of filmmaking, one concerned with impact in a highly competitive environment. Personally, my pure love and excitement towards film is shown in my own passion projects that I do in my free time. These vary from ‘Shoesagne’, a fake restaurant that serves lasagne in ones own shoe to personal and artistic documentaries about characters I know and find interesting around Norwich.
In terms of my technical knowledge, I have been using Premier for over 5 years for all of my editing; I use DaVinci for colour grading and After Effects for any animation and basic compositing. I have shot on cameras that range from a small DSLR to RED’s; I have experience with Nikon, Canon, Blackmagics and Sony from models that shoot 1080P H.264 up to 4k ProRes. I’ve used a range of lighting equipment and am more than confident in lighting scenes and shots, which has all come from growing up in my fathers photography studio. As well as this, I’m more than confident recording audio into mixers, computers or handheld devices, from boom poles, condensers and lavaliere’s. I am technically adept at audio production from voice-over, to external and internal locations, as well as mixing and mastering in post-production.
