I like to go over the basics first, and once that is established, the easiest way to learn is by studying French songs and their lyrics. That way, students get to discover sentences, expressions, and words put in context. After studying, understanding and learning a few songs, we'll be able to move on to books and texts, I'll also recommend French films to watch at home.
