About Garth
Hello! I am Mr. Minnick, and I teach high school English. I have a wide variety of experience teaching diverse students, and diverse experience levels. In my classroom, there are two constants; we are learning, and we are having fun doing it.

My lessons follow a simple model: The setup, practice, and reinforcement. In the first step, we will typically do something to wake up our brain. This could be discussing an interesting fact, or playing a quick game that is relevant to our material. Second, we will practice the learning goal we have set for the session. This will take a scaffolded approach, where I help as much as possible at first, then gradually let the student do more on their own. This builds confidence, and allows me to pinpoint where a mistake is being made and correct it immediately. Finally, we will recap what we covered and line up any follow up that is needed.
My lessons are for anyone from new English speakers, to native speakers looking to understand literature on a deeper level. I can accommodate all learners, and I have experience doing so.
