  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

After my 10th Board, I took Science ( Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics). But after studying for three months I realised that I was unable to establish connection with the subjects. I was not finding interest in those subjects except maths. Maths was the only subject with which I used to spend a lot of time. Then I decided to change my subjects. I talked with my teachers and parents. But all of them were saying me it's just the beginning that's why you are facing problems. I said it's not about problems. If I stay in the stream I would pass with a good score but I will never get the connection. Then I started looking other options. In that time one of my school teachers suggested me to take Economics. This was a completely new subject. I never heard about Economics before my 10th grade. I asked many questions about the subject to my teacher. She answered all my questions patiently. I borrowed a book from her to check the subject matter. Then I studied first two three chapters. Then I decided to take it. My classes began. And with my classes I was finding more interest in the subject. As it talks about human behaviour. Demand, Supply, Poverty, unemployment etc. I was able to relate those things with the reality but in case of chemistry, bio I was unable to do that. The main reason of my interest in the subject is my interest in Maths and in Economics, I can relate everything from consumer behaviour, production, cost, opportunity cost etc.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

I always like to explain things to people. It's not about the subject only it's about anything, any knowledge that I have. I always love to share with others. Because I believe in the Economic theory "Learning by doing". When I was in school, college and university I used to explain my friends whatever I understand and what I realised was that whenever I teach people my knowledge about the subject matter becomes stronger, deeper and more clearer. This motivates me to teach.
  • How does your work help society?

Economics is a major subject in most of the curriculum and through my experience people want to memorise it instead of understanding it. They also have a fear of maths.
My mind can take simple things only. So I always convert any complicated model into a simple model. So when I teach my students, I don't think they will find any difficult words in my explanation. They can believe that yes they can do. It's not that impossible. So, yes, I am helping people who find difficulties in understanding complicated book language.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

It's my mom. I really want to be like her. She wakes up early and she goes to bed late. She does all the work so patiently and happily. She never complains. She remains productive all the day. But I feel tired after taking five-six classes. My mom's happy, satisfied face, always motivates me to work hard. I want to be as patient as her, as happy and satisfied as her.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

I like to draw, dance and acting. I have performed in many theatres also.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

Hard work without realising you are working hard. Enjoy your hard work.
