About Habibah
Art and design lover, explorer and advocate!
I believe creativity is a process and is certainly non-linear.
Art has driven me throughout my childhood years and now onto my professional life. My mum's two favourite stories are of how I used to help my kindergarten classmates with art (A grades all around!), and how all she needed to do to keep me occupied in the mornings was to put a piece of paper and colour pencils in front of me and voila! Easy does it. As a person with ADHD, art also serves as both a great outlet and as a booster to hone my ADHD as a superpower!
I achieved A* for IGCSE Art & Design and Distinction for my diploma (A-level equivalent). I studied business in order to pursue my goal of developing the creative economy of my country Malaysia through education. I was also a Design Thinking Management Consultant before one day realising Interior Design was my calling (funny story here if you care to ask!).
My teaching method is focused on developing the best individual journey for my students to explore their skills and passions through critical and simply, fun discoveries! We will evaluate your current skills, align your interests, and combine the two to make the most of your experience :)
Sample topics:
- Arts and crafts: doodling, making products (birthday cards, bookmarks), straw paintings, stamping
- Drawing materials and techniques: pencils, charcoals, ink
- Painting materials and techniques: types of paint, colour theory, exploring mixed media (watercolour AND crayons? how!)
- Understanding light: shading, toning, how light travels through different materials
- Drawings: Still life, environments, the human body

Methodology:
Expand your creativity by exploring techniques, materials and ideas. From toning and shading, and colour theory, to looking at materials and subjects from different perspectives. Creativity is not only in physical forms but also in developing a mindset that looks beyond the norm. Art also serves as a great outlet for thoughts and emotions – a picture does say a thousand words.
If you're interested in pursuing a new hobby, seeking an outlet for your thoughts, or looking to introduce children to the world of art, we'll work together to develop a plan that caters to your specific needs and interests. With each lesson, we aim to not only improve your skills on paper, but also nurture your creativity and help you see the world in a new light.
Qualifications:
Education -
UAL Extended Diploma in Art & Design - Distinction
BA in Business Administration
Currently pursuing a Masters in Interior Design (portfolio available upon request)
Teaching experience -
Charity work: taught weekly English lessons with a boys' orphanage, in which we created a play and painted a set for their performance.
Professional: lead facilitator of a Social Entrepreneurship course for youth refugees aged 18-24. We learned essential entrepreneurship subjects but also turned creativity and adversity into start-up ideas for a mock Pitch Day with successful social entrepreneurs as judges.
